Windows XP Error Code 10000050
DVD RW and R problems – My PC freezes when i insert a dvd disc of any nature, both my DVD-RW and my DVD-R?
both my DVD-RW and my DVD-R, Both are quite new. i’m running Windows XP, Drivers and firmware are up to date for all hardware. Last week they were working and this weel they are not! When i insert a DVD into any drive, first of all the OS becomes very unstable, the disk autoplays but when try to execute a file from the disc, the mouse hangs as u move the cursor around the screen, the mouse hanging co-incides with the spinning up and spinning down of the dvd drive, which by the way spins up then down continuosly. Eventually to pc hangs, if i eject the dvd the the OS comes back in but my mouse cursor and the whole OS continues to hang at timed intyervals, about every 1.5 seconds. I have then left it for 10 mins it still is doing the same until i restart the machine. once restarted i get this error code message apear on the desktop:BCCode : 10000050 BCP1 : C4C4024E BCP2 : 00000001 BCP3 : 0003000A
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1
If you are running XP try this first. If you can recall when they last worked then go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System tools, System Restore. Follow the directions and restore your computer to the last known time that they worked.

It is common for PC to Freeze up. Microsoft could never get of this ever. This is because Windows is a train on which any software can reserve any class of seat or berth and travel. But some of them are bad and pull the emergency brake chain and there freezes your PC. It could be in the compartment called DVD Drive too.
I would suggest you restore you PC first to a date you knew it used to run well. Empty your windows temp folders, recycle bin and local settings/temp folders and recycle bin. Remove unwanted programs and those which keep crashing your pc and reinstall after a restart if you really need them.
Check if all the cables are well connected. Just pull all the data and power cables and re insert them. See that the CPU fan is not loose and is not obstructed by some cables making it overheat and freeze your PC.
Pull out your RAM and clean its golden contacts with a rubber eraser till it gleams golden and re insert it back.
I think your PC should work now. If you need a video demo of how to do all these then see it at http://www.fixpcfreeze.com
