Windows XP System Error 53 Code
My external hard drive is not showing up?
I have had a Simpletech external hard drive for 53 weeks so I am just over my arranty and no it won’t show up in “My Computer”. When I searched for it in “System Devices” it came up as Mass Storage Device, and under properties it showed the error code 28 “The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.”
but its a plug and play device and the simpletech website doesn’t tell me anything besides its plug and play device so it does not need driver software. Though it seems my computer thinks it does. I have windows XP on a vista laptop Aspire 5570z and my external hard drive is a SP-U35/160. Please help,this thing literally contains my entire life.
I tried every USB port on my computer and plugged in my PSP to see if that would work, it did.
try plugging it into a different USB port.
your computer will (or at lease should) scan for and download the drivers for it.
if that doesn’t work try a suggestion from someone else.
if no luck with those either, send me an e-mail and i’ll do some research.
